Summary: Responsible for organizing and coordinating all components of referrals, testing and related appointment/scheduling or preauthorization requirements, across providers, departments and partnered divisions within Summa Health. Provides support and communicates necessary information to patients, peers and providers regarding status and processes of referrals and appointments Minimum Qualifications Formal Education Required High School diploma or equivalent Post High-School level coursework in healthcare or related field preferred Experience & Training Required One (1) year of experience in a Medical Office/Registration/Billing setting to include: I. Experience with insurance payers, front desk registration duties or related i.e. Medical Assistant, Biller, Registration staff. II. Experience working with an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system Computer experience xe2x80x93 proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint preferred Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications Ability to manage conversations with third party vendors and insurance payers, on behalf of the directed patient care, to assist in timely and accurate services Ability to solve practical problems, interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form and to work reliably and with professionalism in a high-volume, high-demand medical environment Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and e-mail. Prefer skills in using referral software, using health plan web sites and familiarity with electronic medical records Ability to perform in a team-based environment Demonstrate skills in interpersonal communication to effectively interact in person and over the telephone with patients, visitors, physicians, and hospital personnel Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team Ability to interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding for their needs for self-respect and dignity Assumes accountability for demonstrating behaviors consistent with the Summa Health Commitments Able to consistently demonstrate excellence in and adherence to the attendance policy, timeliness and reliability Follow and implement all policy and procedures up to and including HIPAA and medical record confidentiality Level of Physical Demands Sedentary : Exerts up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently Prolonged sitting.
